Wendy Walker, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Wendy J. Walker, our Chief of Staff, is a native of Connecticut, a 1979 Phi Zeta graduate veterinarian of Michigan State University, holding an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology. She has worked at Town & Country, a busy small animal practice, since graduating from veterinary school. The clinic previously was a mixed-animal practice, where Dr. Walker practiced equine medicine for twelve years. Breeding and training thoroughbred horses has always been a hobby and passion for her.
She is an active member of the Goshen Hounds, Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association. In 1990, Dr. Walker was awarded “Business Person of the Year” by the Olney Chamber of Commerce, and in 1995, she was recognized as “Citizen of the Year” by the Greater Olney Civic Association.
For ten years, Dr. Walker was an active member of the Olney Chamber of Commerce, serving as chamber vice president and chair of the Crime Prevention Committee for several years. Her projects include National Night Out and Police Awareness Day. The 1997 opening of the Montgomery County Olney Police Substation was extremely rewarding and challenging and remains one of her favorite projects. While chairing the Park Police Friends Group for six years, she was awarded a Crime Prevention Service Award from Attorney General Janet Reno.
As past president of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Walker has chaired many MVMA sponsored national ski meetings and was awarded the MVMA Lifetime Achievement Award for her success. In 2007, Dr. Walker was nominated for a National Veterinary Meritorious Service Award for her ongoing work with tick disease. In February 2010, she testified on Lyme disease in Annapolis. Presently Dr. Walker sits on the Quality Control Board, Governing Board, and the Board of Directors for Medstar Montgomery Medical Center.
